“With its themes of friendship and problem-solving, and with the joy of Christmas, this book is a delightful addition to winter reading.” —School Library Journal The Christmas lights can finally come out of the box because it's Christmas! And when it's Christmas, they get to shine as bright and as pretty as they like. Hand in hand, they find their way between the pine needles. They hop from branch to branch and sway with joy. Everyone cheers . . . but one light remains silent. It doesn't shine. What could be the cause of its sudden darkness? Featuring lovely illustrations that capture the warmth and spirit of Christmas, this book invites readers of all ages to join in the journey of overcoming obstacles and embracing the magic of the season. A warm book about friendship, perseverance, and a spark of Christmas magic. For Christmas angels ages 5 years and up.
Susan Wallenburg from Emmen, the Netherlands didn’t always enjoy stories. As a child, she dreaded the required school reading list. It wasn’t until she became a mother in 2004 that her passion for stories began. Together with illustrator Mayon Middeljans, she created her first picture book, Sandman Is Angry. They entered the book in Clavis Publishing’s 2020 International Key Colours Competition, reaching a top 7 spot and winning a publishing contract. This achievement motivated Susan to continue writing stories of all kinds, from picture books to YA thrillers. She’s thrilled that her creative adventures are finding their way to readers. At the start of her training at the art academy, Dutch illustrator Madelon Koelinga didn’t want to illustrate children’s books. She felt that it was too obvious of a choice. Luckily, she changed her mind 4 years later and wrote and illustrated her first picture book for Clavis Publishing. Madelon now can’t imagine doing anything else in all the world.
