Beschreibung

»The Ideal Jurist in the Light of a Changing German State«: In the »Third Reich« and the GDR, jurists were first deemed »soldiers« of Hitler, then socialist state functionaries. The supposedly still »independent« judge was subordinated to the state power, and the training of jurists was dedicated to the education of ideology. In the Weimar Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany however, jurists were not elevated to guarantors of the liberal constitution. The new state and its foundations left almost no trace in legal education and its reform debates.

Portrait

Tobias Nasr studied law at the Georg-August University of Göttingen from 2011 to 2016. After his studies, he obtained his doctorate at the Chair of Public Law, esp. Canon Law and Law on state-church-relation, under Prof. Dr. Hans Michael Heinig in Göttingen, where he also worked as a research assistant and co-coordinator of the Göttinger Examenskurs. In 2019, he began his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Braunschweig. During this clerkship, he worked at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and Homeland, at a Hamburg law firm (corporate law), and at the Public Prosecutor's Office in Braunschweig.
